MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested last week after he hopped a fence at Miami International Airport and accessed the Air Operations Area, authorities said.
According to an arrest report obtained Monday by Local 10 News, Luis Gonzalez-Madan, 34, of Boca Raton, was arrested early Friday morning on a felony charge of violating a designated operational area of an airport.
The arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office states that a deputy was dispatched to the area of 5600 NW 36th St. just after 3:15 a.m. Friday after a witness spotted Gonzalez-Madan jumping a fence at the airport, entering a cargo area.
A backup deputy also responded to the area and took Gonzalez-Madan into custody.
According to the report, as an investigator was attempting to read Gonzalez-Madan his Miranda rights, he fell asleep and was uncooperative.
Deputies confirmed he did not make any statements to investigators, however on bodycam video, Gonzalez-Madan told the deputies that he was scared and jumped the fence at the airport.
As of Tuesday morning, Gonzalez-Madan was no longer appearing in the online jail database.
