FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Fort Lauderdale man is accused of an armed carjacking in Central Florida.
Volusia County deputies say 34-year-old Grant Hagood-James ordered a victim out of his car at gunpoint Monday night, and then took off with the car.
The carjacking led to a chase, and deputies say Hagood-James ditched the car and then tried to escape by jumping into a river.
Deputies found him hiding in nearby mangroves and arrested him.
The victim was not hurt and his car has since been recovered.
Hagood-James was arrested on an armed carjacking charge and, as of Wednesday morning, was being held without bond.
