MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — An arson investigation led to a southwest Miami-Dade man’s arrest after a fire was set inside a popular art supply store in the Kendall area.
The incident happened on April 1 at the Michaels arts and crafts store located at 8354 S. Dixie Highway, within the Dadeland Station shopping center.
According to an arrest form, deputies identified Giancarlo Quarta, 30, as the suspect who intentionally set fire to the rear door of the business.
It wasn’t until Tuesday that Quarta, who was arrested on unrelated charges by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, made an admission regarding the arson case that led to his arrest, according to MDSO.
The specifics of Quarta’s confession were omitted from his arrest form.
After his arrest, Quarta was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without incident, where his bond is listed as to be set as of Wednesday morning.
