The 30-year-old Homestead woman is accused of shooting and killing her on-and-off partner, Pedro Jimenez. Link gained notoriety in 2024 after becoming pregnant while in jail.

Some of the most compelling testimony came from Link herself — through her own words captured on 911 audio and police body camera video.

“No! No! No! Pedro, please! Back up!” Link, then 27, can be heard screaming in the footage recorded by a Homestead police sergeant during the early morning hours of June 25, 2022, when officers responded to a call about a man bleeding out.

“Hello? What happened? No! He said he doesn’t know!” prosecutors say Link told a 911 dispatcher moments after she fired the single shot that killed Jimenez, the father of two of her children.

“In a fit of rage, she pulled the gun, pointed it at the victim, and the facts will show that when she did that, he had turned around and was running away in fear,” prosecutor Jared Octala told jurors.

Both sides agree the couple’s relationship was turbulent.

“There were arguments, anger and even jealousy,” Octala said.

“This relationship was a toxic relationship,” defense attorney Ayuban Tomas countered.

The defense described Jimenez as abusive, claiming he pistol-whipped Link just five days before the shooting.

They argue she fired the gun during an argument — out of fear for her life.

“The evidence will show the victim was out of control. He was unhinged, and he was dangerous,” Tomas said. “She fired a shot to get him to go away.”

Homestead Police Sgt. Trayvon Nicholson testified about Link’s behavior at the scene, saying she appeared frantic and confused.

“She was screaming,” Nicholson said. “I believe she stated, ‘What happened?’ asking him what happened.”

But prosecutors said surveillance video also captured Link saying something else moments after the shooting: “(Unintelligble) major artery. You’ll be fine.”

Link’s also made headlines last year after she became pregnant by another inmate while in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, though jurors are not expected to hear those details during the trial.

Link is charged with second-degree murder. Her trial is expected to continue Thursday.
