MARGATE, Fla. — Crews battled a house fire in Margate on Thursday afternoon that left a boy and a dog dead.

According to dispatch records, the fire broke out at a home in the 5500 block of Southwest Sixth Street just before 4:30 p.m.

Video from Sky 10 showed smoke lingering from a large hole in the home’s roof.

Local 10 News spoke with a family member at the scene who said a boy and his dog died inside the home.

Local 10 News has contacted first responders for additional information.
