Dolphins’ ‘Crucial Catch’ game about more than just football

Dolphins raise awareness for cancer research ahead of Sunday's game

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins looked to bounce back in Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But the home game wasn’t just about football.

It was the Dolphins’ “Crucial Catch” game, stressing the importance of early detection of cancer.

The Dolphins are set to present a $15 million check to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, raised through the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.

The DCC is an annual run, ride and walk raising money for cancer research and it’s the biggest of its kind in the NFL. This season’s event is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2026.

Local 10 News spoke to Elizabeth Jenkins, who chairs the DCC board, on Sunday morning.
