MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — She’s the “Queen of Latin Pop” and a true South Florida icon.
On Monday morning, the one and only Gloria Estefan received a new honor — a South Beach street named after her.
The eight-time Grammy Award winner and first Latina inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame was joined by her husband, Emilio, in front of their Cardozo Hotel on Ocean Drive as Miami Beach officially renamed 13th Street as Gloria Estefan Way.
“I am so honored to get my own ‘way’ ― and not just at home,” Estefan said. “I feel blessed to have been able to share our music with the world.”
Estefan, known to fans simply as “Gloria,” was born in Cuba and raised in Miami.
She rose to international fame in the 1980s as a member of the Miami Sound Machine alongside her husband before launching her solo career.
She’s best known for chart-topping hits like “Conga,” “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” and her 1994 remix of “Turn the Beat Around.”
Gloria’s unique sound broke barriers by blending Latin rhythm with American pop — captivating fans across cultures and generations.
It’s a fitting tribute for a South Florida legend whose music not only moved our feet, but our hearts as well.
