MIAMI — A 23-year-old man was tased and arrested after allegedly resisting officers during a disturbance at an NBA YoungBoy concert inside Miami’s Kaseya Center on Monday night, Miami police confirmed.
According to an arrest report, officers working an off-duty detail at the arena responded to Section 311 around 10:15 p.m. after being told several individuals were refusing to comply with arena rules.
Police said the suspect, Marcus Antwon Reed, made “unwanted physical contact” with an officer before resisting efforts to remove him from the seating area.
As officers attempted to detain him, Reed allegedly grabbed a nearby handrail and refused to let go, according to the report.
A MPD sergeant then instructed a responding officer to deploy a Taser, which struck Reed twice in the chest but was ineffective, the report stated.
Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows officers and Reed falling approximately 15 rows down the seating area during the struggle. Additional units arrived and were able to place Reed in handcuffs, police said.
Authorities told investigators that the officer struck Reed twice in the ribs and pulled his hair in an attempt to gain compliance before officers escorted him out of the section.
Police said Reed continued to resist as he was removed from the arena.
Miami Fire Rescue evaluated Reed at the scene before transporting him to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical clearance.
Jail records show he is facing two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and four counts of resisting an officer with violence.
As of Tuesday, Reed was being held on a $7,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
No serious injuries to officers or other concertgoers were reported.
