Police: Man stabbed by roommate in Lauderhill

Man stabbed at Lauderhill home A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after he was stabbed by his roommate in Lauderhill, police said.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. — A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after he was stabbed by his roommate in Lauderhill, police said.

According to Lauderhill police, the incident was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Northwest 44th Terrace.

Police said the victim and his other roommates called 911 after the stabbing.

When police arrived, they found the victim, identified only as a 30-year-old Black man, in the front yard, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

First responders transported the victim to Broward Health Medical Center. Police said he was conscious and breathing at the time.

All the roommates living at what police call a group home housing five or six people, were ordered out by police.

Police confirmed that the suspect was detained at the scene.

He was identified by police only as a 50-year-old Black man.

Local 10 News was at the scene as the suspect was placed in handcuffs.

Police said it appears the men got into some kind of a fight that led to the stabbing, but they’re still investigating why they were fighting and how it escalated.

Police said there was blood throughout the house after the stabbing.

Officers at the scene are in the process of interviewing the other residents and gathering evidence.

The victim’s condition has not yet been released.
