Daisy Link was found guilty of second-degree murder in the June 2022 killing of Pedro Jimenez, her partner of nine years and father of two of her children.

Link also made international headlines in 2024 for becoming pregnant with another child by a fellow inmate while in jail.

Prosecutors argued that she killed Jimenez out of rage.

Link, who took the stand in her own defense, claimed she only intended to scare him away.

“This is a toxic relationship with domestic violence going back and forth,” prosecutor Alex Bergida said. “And you know what Ms. Link did? She lit a match and lit that fire that night because she wanted this relationship to be over and this was the best way to do it.”

Link’s attorney, Ayuban Tomas, countered that Jimenez “made it clear that he was going to break into that home and lock her out and keep her away from her children, which he had no right to do.”

“And, importantly, she has every right ― every right ― to use deadly force to prevent him from doing that," Tomas said.

Jurors, who began deliberating at around 2 p.m. and rendered their verdict just before 4 p.m., could have considered lesser charges.

Juror Kenan Bowie explained what led him to vote to convict Link.

“If he’s running away, shot in the back, (it) doesn’t seem like self-defense if he’s running away,” Bowie said after court adjourned. “There was a lot that she lied about, a lot from the second she called 911.”

Two jurors were initially on the fence but, ultimately, joined the unanimous verdict to convict.

Link’s unusual pregnancy was not discussed in court. The child is now in the care of relatives.

Link is set to be sentenced within a month.
