HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — A cross-county police chase ended in Hallandale Beach early Saturday after Miami Gardens officers pursued a burglary suspect’s SUV loaded with hundreds of pounds of suspected marijuana, authorities said.
The incident began just before 1 a.m. when a witness reported a burglary at 20200 Northwest Second Avenue in Miami Gardens and saw several people loading large black bags into a black Cadillac SUV. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off.
The chase ended near Southwest 50th Terrace and Hallandale Beach Boulevard, where one suspect was caught and others ran off, according to investigators.
Police said the SUV contained several hundred pounds of suspected marijuana.
With help from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and West Park police, they said three of the four suspects were eventually taken into custody. Their names or ages have not yet been released.
