It happened around 3:45 a.m. in the parking lot outside Rickey’s Sports Bar and Grill, located just west of the intersection of Pines Boulevard and University Drive.

Evidence markers could be seen scattered throughout the parking lot, where a red car was observed with apparent bullet holes. That was before a Mercedes-Benz was seen pulling into the parking lot with apparent bullet holes on its hood.

One witness who asked not to be identified told Local 10 News she heard what sounded like gunfire and saw someone shooting a gun when leaving the bar around 4 a.m.

Police said two men were found in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and both were rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One of the men has since passed away, authorities said.

This isn’t the first time officers have investigated a deadly shooting outside Rickey’s.

Back on April 12, Local 10 News reported on another shooting that occurred outside of the sports bar.

Police said a man was shot and killed in the parking around 2 a.m. that morning.

Investigators at the time said the shooting appeared to be targeted, adding it did not “appear to be a random act of violence.”

Officers are still searching for a suspect in connection with Sunday’s shooting and urge anyone with information to call police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
