MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Election Day is a little more than two weeks away, but starting Monday, registered voters in some areas of South Florida are now able to head to the polls to begin early voting, including all registered voters in the cities of Miami Beach and Marathon.

In addition to three local city commissioner seats, voters in Miami Beach will also be deciding who will become their next mayor.

Incumbent Mayor Steven Meiner and City Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez are both running for mayor.

Public safety issues have dominated this year’s campaign and Meiner has touted his so-called law and order record, highlighting his efforts to crack down on spring break chaos and homelessness.

Rosen Gonzalez, meanwhile, has said the city is less safe than it was a year ago.

She also wants to rebuild the city’s tourism brand and create more affordable housing.

Meanwhile, over in Miami, it is a very crowded race for mayor there, with more than a dozen different candidates all vying to become the city’s next mayor as current Mayor Francis Suarez is term-limited.

Some of the front runners include current Miami-Dade Commissioner Eileen Higgins, Miami City Commissioner Joe Carollo, former Miami City Manager Emilio Gonzalez and former Miami City Commissioner Ken Russell.

Early voting in the city of Miami begins Oct. 25.

In addition to the mayoral races in Miami and Miami Beach, voters in Hialeah will also be choosing their next mayor as well.

Early voting in Hialeah begins Oct. 27.

Early voting hours Monday for Miami Beach are between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
