MIAMI — After Miami police officers noticed a 5-year-old boy was injured, they arrested his 22-year-old father for child abuse, records show.
The boy’s mother told police officers through tears that her son was playing with his two-year-old sister when his father, Carlos Vasquez, “grabbed a stick,” “grabbed” him “by his hair” and beat him up, according to a police report.
The child abuse was at 4 p.m. on Friday at Northwest 14 Avenue and 20 Street, in Allapattah, and police officers arrested him at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday at the Miami Police Department’s headquarters in Downtown Miami, according to a police officer’s arrest report.
“The victim has visible injury to his left cheek and faint marks on his back,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Vasquez, who was born in Honduras and is also known as Carlos Daniel Vasquez Magana, works in construction, and is homeless in Miami, according to the police arrest report.
