Authorities said Hugo Hernandez Murcia, 52, was taken into custody on Oct. 2 in Chesapeake, Virginia and has since been extradited to Miami-Dade County.

The crime in question occurred on Dec. 30, 2022 in Miami.

According to an arrest form, Hernandez Murcia and the victim got into a verbal altercation regarding the whereabouts of the victim’s daughter.

When the victim tried to remove herself from the argument, going outside to smoke a cigarette, the arrest form states Hernandez Murcia retrieved a 14-inch knife before following her outside, grabbing her by the neck and slamming her head into a wall.

Police said Hernandez Murcia then began making slashing motions toward the victim’s face, causing several lacerations on her lip, cheek and chin, before grabbing her by the neck again and forcing the knife into her mouth.

The victim’s tongue was cut in half by the victim, and she then suffered cuts on her hands and fingers while wrestling the knife out of her mouth, police said.

When the victim fled back into the home, an arrest form states Hernandez Murcia followed her inside and, while still holding the knife, demanded she give him money, to which she handed over $3,000 in cash.

The arrest form does not indicate how Hernandez Murcia was located in Virginia.

He was arrested by police on charges of second-degree murder, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

Murica was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where he remains on no bond.
