NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A North Miami Beach woman was arrested Thursday after police said she threw seasoning and an unknown condiment from her apartment balcony and then threatened her neighbor with a butter knife.

According to an arrest report, North Miami Beach police responded to the apartment complex at 2150 NE 169th St. at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday.

When officers arrived, they met with a witness who said she overheard her neighbor, Thonise Saintil, 31, screaming inside her apartment.

According to the report, the witness said she then went out on her balcony and saw Saintil on her own balcony. She said Saintil then began throwing food seasoning and an unknown condiment toward her for no reason.

The witness went back inside her apartment to avoid being struck, at which time she heard the front door being unlocked with a key.

Police said the witness’s sister was trying to open the door to the apartment when Saintil exited her own apartment and raised a butter knife over the victim’s head.

According to the report, the victim had no knowledge of the balcony incident between her sister and Saintil and she quickly slammed the door shut to prevent herself from being harmed by Saintil.

The victim then called 911.

According to the report, Saintil claimed that she grabbed the knife in self-defense because she heard someone knocking on her door and got scared.

She was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As of Friday afternoon, Santil was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
