South Florida pharmacist arrested for forging ‘dozens’ of prescriptions, deputies say

Chandra Teerie (MCSO)

ISLAMORADA, Fla. — A South Florida pharmacist is facing more than 80 charges after authorities said she forged “dozens” of prescriptions.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, CVS Pharmacy notified deputies in September that Chandra Teerie was “forging doctors’ prescriptions for non-controlled substances for herself and family members.”

Teerie, 59, of Homestead, was arrested on Wednesday at the drugstore chain’s location at 82894 Overseas Highway in Islamorada.

Additional details about the forged prescriptions weren’t provided in an MCSO news release or in arrest documents obtained by Local 10 News on Thursday, but officials said they cost CVS more than $8,500.

Jail records show Teerie, a licensed Florida pharmacist since 2004, faces a total of 85 felonies, including counts of insurance fraud, forgery, grand theft and drug-related charges.

Teerie was no longer listed in MCSO active inmate records as of Thursday morning. She’s scheduled to be arraigned in a Florida Keys courtroom on Nov. 12.
