MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies have identified a man accused of shooting another driver during a road rage incident Friday night in Doral.
The suspect, 54-year-old Emilio Humberto Rodriguez, allegedly fired a single shot that struck the victim in the face around 7:45 p.m. near Northwest 87th Avenue and Northwest 64th Street, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they incident began when the victim and Rodriguez got into an argument after exiting their vehicles.
Authorities said Rodriguez pulled out a gun, yelled at the victim, and fired a round as the victim turned toward him.
They said the victim drove to an urgent care center in Doral with visible blood on the SUV and on the front door of the facility.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
According to his arrest report, Rodriguez admitted to firing a “warning shot” near the victim’s head. Deputies said the incident was captured on a nearby security camera.
With assistance from the Doral Police Department, deputies located Rodriguez and took him into custody.
Jail records show he is facing one count of second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
As of Saturday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
Rodriguez is scheduled to appear before a judge in Miami-Dade bond court on Sunday.
