Osvaldo Perez, 50, a 25-year veteran of HPD who lives in Southwest Ranches, was being held Wednesday at the Broward Main Jail on a $75,000 bond, according to jail records.

Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday near the 4300 block of Southwest 148th Terrace in Miramar.

HPD officials said the agency is taking the allegations seriously.

“Lt. Perez has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation,” said HPD Chief Jeff Devlin in a statement.

Authorities said Perez turned himself in to the Broward Sheriff’s Office without incident.

No other details about Perez’s arrest were immediately released.
