HOMESTEAD, Fla. — More details were released Wednesday following Monday night’s armed carjacking and deputy-involved shooting in Homestead.

According to arrest reports obtained by Local 10 News, the suspects arrested in the case were identified as Stephan Jones, 18, Tyquawn Davis, 18, and King Gage, 16.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said the trio carjacked a woman at gunpoint at about 8:15 p.m. Monday as she was sitting inside her black Chevy Tahoe outside Empire Fitness Club, located at 27950 SW 127th Ave. The woman was waiting for her son who was in a training class at the time of the carjacking.

According to the arrest reports, the victim was using her cellphone when someone with a hoodie covering his head unlocked her front passenger-side door.

Deputies said the victim noticed that the suspect was armed with a gun and locked her doors.

A second male suspect, who was also armed with a gun, then approached her through the driver’s side door, opened it and demanded her car keys, authorities said.

Deputies said the victim pointed to the driver’s side door where the keys were located and then ran into the gym, seeking help.

According to the arrest reports, the woman told police that a third male also approached her vehicle during the carjacking.

The victim tracked her stolen SUV with the Chevrolet mobile app and that information was relayed to responding deputies.

Deputies said they spotted the stolen Tahoe in the area of 2300 Southeast Palm Drive in Homestead where the three suspects exited the vehicle and fled from deputies.

According to the reports, Davis was armed with a gun but dropped it and surrendered to deputies.

Authorities said Davis was found hiding behind a home and was taken into custody.

Jones, meanwhile, fled from deputies as he was holding his waistband, authorities said.

According to his arrest report, he ran to the rear of a home and refused to comply with deputies when ordered to stop and show his hands.

Deputies said he then “abruptly turned around” and pointed a rifle at a deputy, who fired at Jones, striking him in the arm.

Jones was transported to Jackson South Medical Center for treatment before being taken to jail.

Deputies said Gage denied any wrongdoing, Davis confessed to participating in the armed carjacking and Jones admitted to fleeing from deputies but denied being in possession of a firearm.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Davis was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond while Jones was being held at TGK on a $15,000 bond.

Gage faces a charge of resisting an officer without violence, Davis faces charges of armed robbery/carjacking and resisting an officer without violence and Jones faces charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, improper exhibition of a weapon and resisting an officer without violence.
