MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after crashing a marked police vehicle into a palm tree, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News.
According to MDSO, the crash occurred at about 3:25 a.m. in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 74th Street.
Deputies said the on-duty deputy was heading north on 22nd Avenue and struck the tree, causing the vehicle to roll over.
The deputy, who sustained cuts to the upper extremities, was able to exit the vehicle.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the deputy to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
No other details were immediately released.
