According to MDSO, the crash occurred at about 3:25 a.m. in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 74th Street.

Deputies said the on-duty deputy was heading north on 22nd Avenue and struck the tree, causing the vehicle to roll over.

The deputy, who sustained cuts to the upper extremities, was able to exit the vehicle.

“It’s a miracle,” Ladarious Young, who was in the area at the time, said. “I don’t know how he did it. I thought he was getting chased (because of) how the car looked. That’s what I’m trying to say, (it looked) like three cars hit him. I don’t know, a crazy scenario.”

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the deputy to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

No other details were immediately released.
