MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A deputy-involved shooting occurred Thursday morning near a Walmart in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred in the area of 21100 S. Dixie Highway near a Walmart Supercenter.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed one person was transported by ground to a local hospital, where police said he was later pronounced deceased.
No other details were immediately released.
Local 10’s Hannah Yechivi observed many of the Walmart’s employees gathered at a nearby Burger King, as the store had been apparently closed due to the investigation.
A public information officer is heading to the scene to give further updates to reporters.
