Airports in South Florida are no exception.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, as well as Miami International Airport, are both experiencing high delays.

At last check Sunday afternoon, MIA had 257 flight delays and Fort Lauderdale stood at 207.

As far as cancelations go, 35 flights are not taking off from Miami today and 45 will stay on the ground in Fort Lauderdale.

This has left travelers stranded, scrambling, and frustrated, like the Maynards, who are trying to get back to Hartford, Connecticut.

They were supposed to fly out Saturday at 4 p.m. and got to MIA at noon.

That flight never took off, and they had to sleep at the airport because all of the hotels nearby are booked.

“I’m tired,” said Debra Manyard. “After three weeks being away, it’s time to go home.”

Now, they just want to get home and are hopeful their direct flight that’s scheduled for Sunday evening will get them there.

“A long night,” added Brian Manyard. “We’re crossing our fingers.

All this as a storm system hovers over parts of the Midwest, expected to drop several inches of snow Monday.

“It’s frustrating,” said traveler Barbara Johnson. “I have to work tomorrow. Hopefully I can make it in.”
