DANIA BEACH, Fla. — A woman has died after she was stabbed last week in Dania Beach, Local 10 News learned Monday.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect in the case, Benjamin Gottlieb, 36, was arrested Thursday in connection with the killing.
At the time, he was arrested on an attempted murder charge but that charge is expected to be upgraded now that the victim has died.
According to BSO, deputies responded shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday to the 4400 block of Treasure Cove Drive, where they found a woman with multiple stab wounds.
She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
Officials said Gottlieb barricaded himself inside a home before surrendering to deputies after several hours. The sheriff’s Special Victims Unit is investigating.
Gottlieb was not appearing in the online jail database Monday morning. It’s unclear whether he was hospitalized after being taken into custody.
