CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — The shrill sound of terror from Monday morning’s deadly plane crash in Coral Springs played out on 911 calls released to the public for the first time on Friday.
The turboprop, carrying hurricane relief supplies to Jamaica, clipped a fence before crashing into a pond in the gated Windsor Bay neighborhood, killing both people on board.
“A plane crashed into my house!” a woman said. “Somebody needs to come! There’s a lot of fuel!”
Another caller said, “The plane just crashed in our lake.”
Many described the crash as sounding like an explosion, caught in the direct line of danger.
“I heard the explosion. I felt it and stuff came flying over the houses and into the lake,” a caller said.
Divers and investigators continued the slow and careful process of searching for wreckage on Friday.
One caller Monday described seeing the plane.
“It looks like it’s buried in the lake,” the caller said. “I’m looking for survivors now.”
A father and daughter from the Cayman Islands, Alexander Wurm, 53, and Serena Wurm, 22, were aboard the flight.
The two were part of a Christian ministry delivering the supplies from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport to Montego Bay.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board continued their investigation into the crash.
