Early morning crash in Margate, motorcyclist hospitalized

MARGATE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was hospitalized after an early morning crash in Margate.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the area of State Road 7 between Atlantic Boulevard and Southgate Boulevard.

Video obtained by Local 10 News shows the motorcycle badly damaged, with a helmet left on the road a few feet away.

Investigators were observed processing the scene for several hours after the crash.

Police said the motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital but have not provided an update on their health status.

One resident who lives close by told Local 10’s Gabrielle Arzola the accident woke him up, hearing the helicopter and ambulance.

He said accidents like these are happening more often on this road.

“This won’t be the first time (or the) last,” the resident said. “I’m pretty sure something else is going to happen because this is something that’s become very common, so all you can do is just pray all of us. We don’t know when we’re going to go, but it would be good to not just go out like any kind of way.”

All roadways have since reopened following the crash.
