MIRAMAR, Fla. — The 12th annual Flanigan’s Rockin’ Rib Run took over Miramar Regional Park on Sunday morning.
It’s a great run for a great cause featuring great food, with proceeds benefiting Miami Lakes United Methodist Church’s’ Hope Mission.
The smell of those juicy Flanigan’s ribs were energizing nearly 4,000 runners at the event.
“I’m a nurse and believe in promoting health,” said participant Keith Huber “It’s was to raise money and give back to the community.”
Organizers say the event has only grown over the year, becoming one of the top 10-Ks in South Florida.
“The first one drew 250 people, today 3600 people,” said Runners Depot manager Steve Mesiano.
From humble beginnings, the event now brings in elite international athletes from places like Ethiopia, Kenya, The Netherlands and England.
