Family grieves after construction site death in Miami's Coconut Grove

MIAMI — A 29-year-old construction worker was killed in a concrete wall collapse Monday morning in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood, police and fire officials said.

Police officers identified the man as Jorge Esteban Rojas Rodriguez. Grieving relatives visited the construction site in the 2900 block of Southwest 22nd Avenue.

Video from Sky 10, taken just before 11:25 a.m., shows the victim’s body covered under a yellow tarp at a construction site.

Miami police officers, along with several construction workers, were at the scene.

Witnesses described hearing a scream after the collapse and rushing to the site.

Authorities have not yet stated what may have caused the wall to give way.
