FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Broward County’s new mayor was chosen on Tuesday and he’s a familiar face.
County commissioners voted unanimously to solidify Mark Bogen’s second term as mayor.
He previously served as mayor in 2019.
District 8 Commissioner Robert McKinzie will serve alongside Bogen as vice mayor.
Bogen is replacing Beam Furr.
Unlike in neighboring Miami-Dade County, where the mayor serves in an executive role, the position of Broward mayor is largely ceremonial and rotates annually among commissioners.
