FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Already without Matthew Tkachuk, Aleksander Barkov, Tomas Nosek, Jonah Gadjovich and Dmitry Kulikov, the Panthers will be down two more important bodies.

Panthers head coach Paul Maurice confirmed to local reporters Wednesday that Cole Schwindt will miss approximately two to three months because of a broken right arm, and that Eetu Luostarinen will be “week-to-week” after sustaining burns in a barbecue accident.

Schwindt, who has scored two goals in 10 games this season, collided with goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky in the first period of the Panthers’ 8–5 win Monday against the Vancouver Canucks at Amerant Bank Arena.

He immediately went to the locker room for further evaluation and didn’t return.

“He’s very likely going to have surgery,” Maurice said. “He’s going to see the doctor today.”

Luostarinen has 10 points in 18 games this season (three goals, seven assists).

“We don’t have a lot of experience with this,” Maurice said on Luostarinen’s injury. “Some of it is when he comes back and feels comfortable with the equipment on, and then it’s away we go. He wasn’t in the hospital overnight. He did see doctors in that vein.”

In a corresponding move, the Panthers are calling up Jack Devine from the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.

Devine, 22, is set to make his NHL debut Thursday when the Panthers continue their five-game homestand against the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. ET.

He leads the Checkers in scoring with 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 13 games so far this season.

The Panthers are currently sixth in the Atlantic Division, sitting at 10-8-1.
