Smoothie criminal? Customer caught on camera using fake $100 bill

Customer passes fake $100 at smoothie shop

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Staff at a juicery in Coral Springs say a customer passed off a $10 bill as a $100 bill, walking away with $80 after the cashier verified it as authentic.

It happened at 3Natives and was caught on camera.

The customer strolled into the store and ordered two bowls totaling about $20. He hands the employee $100 bill. The cashier verified the authenticity of the bill.

“It came back yellow,” store manager Andrew Michael said. “That means that it came back real.”

But on second glance, Michael said the cashier “held it up to the light, showing (Alexander) Hamilton, which is the $10 bill.”

“Our guess is they clean the bill (and) print over it back,” Michael said.

In January, Local 10 reported on another “fake Benjamin baller” at the same store who also made off with about $90 in cash. In that case, the girl ordered a smoothie and dipped before the drink was ready, making off with cash in hand.

Moving forward, the store is no longer going to accept $100 bills. Staff have filed a report with Coral Springs police.
