MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 45-year-old man appeared in bond court Friday after investigators say he pushed a woman off a Metrorail platform, causing her death.

Deputies found the victim, 32-year-old Kanisa Love, dead beneath the station. According to investigators, surveillance video shows the suspect, Jorge Gomez, walking up to Love unprovoked and pushing her to the ground.

The arrest report states the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. However, deputies were not called to the scene until the following morning around 10 a.m.

Gomez was taken in for questioning after detectives reviewed the surveillance footage. In court, a judge granted the state’s motion for pretrial detention.

Records show Gomez was on probation after a 2023 grand theft conviction. His arrest history dates back to 2014.
