BSO responds to reports of shooting in Deerfield Beach residential neighborhood

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, along with plenty of crime scene tape, surrounded a house in Deerfield Beach on Sunday after a shooting just before 10 30 a.m.

The home is located along the 200 block of Northwest Second Way.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified told Local 10 News’ Brett Knese she heard multiple gunshots.

“As I’m walking out, that’s when I saw the young man lying on the ground,” she said.

That neighbor said when she went outside, she saw a man lying in the front yard and a woman screaming for someone to call 9-1-1.

“He wasn’t responsive,” she said. “He was just lying there. I didn’t see any blood or anything, but it was very, very traumatic.”

That neighbor says Broward Sheriff’s deputies swarmed the neighborhood telling people to go back inside until they secured the area. The man who was shot was rushed to the hospital.

“I pray that he makes it,” said the neighbor. “I pray that he’s okay because no one should die. No one should die from gun violence especially so close to thanksgiving. It’s very, very sad.”

Authorities have not provided an update on the condition of the man who was shot.

They have also not said whether anyone is in custody or if they are seeking any suspects or persons of interest.
