MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are investigating after they said an attempted home break-in led a fatal shooting on Saturday.
It happened in the area of Southwest 141st Street and 110th Avenue in Miami-Dade’s Richmond Heights neighborhood at approximately 6:40 p.m.
According to authorities, four people attempted to enter a home by force and were subsequently shot at by the homeowner, who struck one of them in the upper body while the others fled.
That man was taken by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Sunday morning, the mother of the accused intruded who was shot and killed was raw with emotion.
“I’m in shock, disbelief, hurt,” said the man’s mother who did not provide her name. “(I was told) he got shot and killed, and (they) said he tried to break into someone’s house. That’s not him.”
The search continues for the three people who ran off after the attempted break-in.
