MIAMI — Alan Henry Triana, the brother of the gunman who was found dead after shooting two Miami police officers last month, was arrested this past weekend in connection with a road rage shooting in Miami, according to the Miami Police Department.

Triana, 38, was taken into custody after a driver told police he was shot at during a confrontation involving a white Chevrolet Corvette around 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

According to an arrest report, the victim said he honked his horn at the Corvette near Northwest 11th Street and Northwest 31th Street, prompting the driver — who police identified as Triana — to stop, gesture angrily, and wait for him to pass.

Investigators said the victim reported that Triana pointed a black handgun at him as he drove by, then followed him eastbound before turning north onto Northwest 22nd Avenue.

They said while the victim was on the phone with police, he said Triana turned around on the 22nd Avenue bridge and fired several shots in his direction. The victim provided officers with dash camera video of the Corvette before the shooting.

A witness also reported hearing three gunshots and seeing a newer-model white Corvette speeding north on Northwest 22nd Avenue, the report stated.

Detectives later used Triana’s ankle monitor GPS — he was already out on bond in a separate Miami-Dade case — to place him at the scene of the shooting at 4:48 p.m., according to the report.

Officers said the located his Corvette parked behind a gate at his registered residence on Northwest 26th Street.

They said the victim later identified Triana in a photo lineup, and detectives arrested him Sunday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

During a phone call to his girlfriend while in police custody, Triana claimed he fired in self-defense, saying another driver had “almost crashed into us and shot at me and called the police on me,” according to the report. His attorney later instructed him to stop speaking with investigators.

Triana’s arrest comes weeks after his brother, 27-year-old Mason Triana, opened fire on Miami police officers on Oct. 9 in Allapattah.

Police said two officers — a male sergeant and a female officer — were shot in their legs but survived. Mason Triana later barricaded himself inside his home, exchanged gunfire with officers, and was found dead inside. Authorities have not said whether he was killed by police or died by suicide.

Jail records show Alan Triana is facing one count each of aggravated assault with a firearm, shooting or throwing a deadly missile, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and cocaine possesion, after police said they found drugs in one of his pockets during a search.

He remained at TGK, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.
