WESTON, Fla. — Local 10 obtained body camera footage from the Broward Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday showing the moments leading up to the April 14 arrest of Cuban-American actor William Levy at Baires Grill in Weston.
In the video, deputies attempt to detain Levy, 44, as he repeatedly insisted that he had done nothing wrong.
At the start of the footage, an officer can be heard telling another individual, “You’re gonna be bailing him out of the jail.
Levy, appearing frustrated, responds, “That’s it. I’m f------ done, really. I’m done.”
As deputies move in to arrest him, Levy says, “I haven’t done anything papi, I haven’t got nothing, bro.”
An officer then informs him, “You’re under arrest for trespass a warrant,” to which Levy replies, “I’m ready.”
Throughout the encounter, Levy continues insisting he is innocent:
“I haven’t done nothing, my boy. I haven’t done nothing, really.” At another point, he pleads, “There’s no need to do this, man. I was in the middle, man, in the middle.”
Deputies say they were called to Baires Grill just after 10 p.m. for a disturbance.
According to the arrest report, Levy was “highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance inside the restaurant.”
BSO says he was issued a trespass warning by the manager and ordered to leave, but ignored multiple commands from deputies before being taken into custody.
Levy was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing. A judge later granted him a $500 bond and ordered him to stay away from Baires Grill.
After his release, Levy claimed the dispute at the restaurant had not involved him directly while speaking to Local 10 News.
“I was having a drink with one of my friends from the team, the baseball team, and they started arguing with another guy and I got in front of him to try to deescalate the situation and I’m dealing with that,” he said.
Levy is best known for his roles in telenovelas and Hollywood productions such as Girls Trip and Tyler Perry’s Addicted. He also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2012.
Employees at Baires Grill declined to comment on the incident.
