Person dies after being struck by train in Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — A person was killed Saturday afternoon after being struck by a train in Oakland Park, authorities said.

Broward County deputies responded around 2:30 p.m. to reports of a train hitting a pedestrian near the 1600 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

They said individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units were called to investigate.

Authorities have not released the age, gender or identity of the victim, and the investigation is ongoing.

No further details were immediately available.
