COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — A South Florida father was in tears while hugging the officer who he says saved his daughters life.
It was back in mid-October when Coconut Creek police responded to reports of a suicide attempt atop a parking garage at the Seminole Casino.
Officer Ethan Rodriguez was directing traffic, but caught the eye of the teen and made a heart sign with his hands.
“Seeing the heart, it made feel warm,” said the teen.
Rodriguez then offered the teen his army pin and several of his police patches, ripping them from out of his vehicle and bringing them up to the teen.
It was those acts of kindness that helped her come back from the ledge of the parking garage.
This week, the two were reunited.
The teen, who is now getting the help she needs, still holds on to those patches, as they are the signs of kindness that coaxed her from the ledge.
