KEY LARGO, Fla. — Dramatic cellphone video shows a woman being forced from a car Wednesday by federal agents in the Florida Keys.
The video was obtained by The Miami Herald.
According to a CBP spokesperson, the driver refused to roll down her window or identify herself during a traffic stop in Key Largo Wednesday morning.
On Thursday, a CBP spokesperson confirmed that on Wednesday morning, “the U.S. Border Patrol – with the help of CBP’s Air and Marine Operations and the Florida Highway Patrol – conducted targeted immigration enforcement operations in the Florida Keys that resulted in the arrest of 14 illegal aliens."
The spokesperson said in an email to Local 10 News the woman who was removed from the vehicle was driving an “illegal alien’s” car and “refused to comply with repeated lawfully given orders by law enforcement to identify herself. She was removed from the vehicle and briefly held while her identity was confirmed, she was promptly released once her identity was confirmed.”
The Miami Herald reporter who took the video says the woman could be heard shouting that she’s a U.S. citizen as she was being handcuffed.
She was released a short time later after agents found her ID and confirmed she was, in fact, a U.S. citizen.
The spokesperson said the “illegal aliens” who were arrested had criminal histories that included “domestic violence, battery, and illegal reentry after deportation” and said all 14 individuals would remain in ICE custody pending removal.
The spokesperson included a reminder to the public in his email to Local 10 News: “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”
