Fort Lauderdale man accused of sexually assaulting massage therapist

Warning: Story contains descriptions of sexual assault

Matthew Nagle (BSO)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale arrested a 55-year-old man on Friday after accusing him of sexually assaulting a massage therapist at a spa in August.

An arrest warrant from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department states that Matthew Robert Nagle, a resident of the city’s Seven Isles neighborhood, visited the unnamed spa on the afternoon of Aug. 14, having “called the facility earlier in the day to reserve an unlicensed massage treatment.”

Investigators said as the 20-year-old masseuse began treating Nagle, he began masturbating. The warrant states she “became very uncomfortable; however, she continued with the treatment.”

Police said Nagle then “suddenly grabbed one of her hands” and she pulled away. According to the warrant, he eventually sat up on the massage table, reached down her shirt, took her shirt and bra off and began kissing the victim’s breasts and lips.

The victim told him, “Bro, what the f---? You are a stranger,” according to police. But authorities said Nagle did not stop and “threw her onto the massage table, forcing her to (lie) on her back as he got on top of her.”

Police said when the victim told Nagle no, he replied, “No, it’s OK, you’re hot” and “aggressively” ripped her pants and underwear off and performed sex acts on her as she tried to move her body away.

Detectives said he eventually forced her to masturbate him and after the assault, gave her $150 and said, “That was fun. Did you have fun?”

According to the warrant, the victim “then ran out of the room to the bathroom where she later told a co-worker about the assault.”

Authorities said she reported what happened to FLPD later that day and received a sexual assault examination.

Police said they went to Nagle’s home to speak with him and he “denied any sexual activity or any wrongdoing.”

But investigators said Nagle’s DNA came back on several samples, including from the victim’s breasts and pants, which police said “corroborates” the victim’s account and “disproves” his denial.

Nagle, after turning himself in at FLPD headquarters on Friday, was booked into the Broward County jail on two sexual battery charges and a judge later found probable cause to charge him, ordering him to stay away from the accuser and the spa and to surrender his passport.

Broward Sheriff’s Office records show he was released from jail on a $100,000 bond.
