STOCK ISLAND, Fla. — A Florida Keys man is facing a felony charge after authorities said he let a 17-year-old runaway from suburban Atlanta stay at his home.
Officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Maykol Campos Gutierrez, 25, allowed the missing Douglas County, Georgia girl to live with him at his home on Stock Island for about a month.
According to MCSO, the girl told Campos Gutierrez she was 17, a runaway from Georgia “and that people were looking for her.”
Deputies said Campos Gutierrez made no effort to report her presence to any law enforcement or child protection agencies.
They arrested him on Tuesday on a charge of interference with custody of a minor.
Records show he was being held on a $25,000 bond.
