MIAMI — It was a classic underdog story — the kind that makes you think of Hoosiers and hope for a Hollywood ending.
On one side stood West Broward, making its first appearance in a state championship game. On the other was West Boca, aiming for its second consecutive state title.
After a scoreless first quarter, West Boca struck in the second. Javion Mallory broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run, giving the Bulls a 7-0 lead.
Moments later, West Boca’s defense turned the momentum into points. The Bulls forced a fumble, and Tray Mitchell scooped it up and returned it for a touchdown, stretching the advantage to 14-0.
West Broward tried to respond, highlighted by a strong catch from Amir Sears, but the Bobcats couldn’t overcome West Boca’s dominant defense. The Bulls completed the shutout, winning 31-0 and securing another state championship.
