DANIA BEACH, Fla. — The Embrace Girls Foundation celebrated its 25th anniversary with a benefit concert at the Casino at Dania Beach on Sunday, featuring a star-studded lineup of legendary R&B artists.
The event, focused on women’s empowerment, was a testament to the foundation’s impact over two decades.
Founder Velma Lawrence has been a driving force behind the organization, providing guidance and opportunities for young women. Despite losing federal funding this year, Lawrence remains optimistic.
“I don’t really worry about money. I know we need it, but I’m not going to sweat it because I do believe there are good people out there,” she said. “Everyone that bought a ticket tonight, 100% of the proceeds go to our organization. We’ll keep doing shows.”
Lawrence is supported by strong community partners and lead sponsors, ensuring the foundation’s continued work. Steven G., a lead sponsor, noted, “Embrace Girls is very special. They don’t have multimillionaires and billionaires supporting them, but they’re still doing incredible work with little resources.”
In a show of support, one sponsor is treating a group of the girls to a trip to Disney World next week to celebrate their achievements.
The foundation’s mission remains as strong as ever, with plans to keep empowering young women in the years ahead.
