FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport experienced a power outage early Sunday morning, affecting operations across the airport.
The outage prompted officials to work closely with Florida Power & Light to restore power to the terminals.
Airport officials confirmed that as of Sunday afternoon, all four Terminals have resumed normal operations.
Despite the outages, airport officials confirmed that all flights, including arrivals and departures, are operating on schedule.
According to Flightaware.com, there have been a total of 263 delays at Fort Lauderdale International, with the same number affecting flights within, into, or out of the United States as of 1 p.m.
“To have to sit in the airport for hours and not knowing what’s going to happen it is kind of frustrating,” said Kathy Balthrop, who was travelling to Michigan.
Additionally, there have been 22 cancellations Sunday at FLL, including six flights within, into, or out of the U.S. Miami International Airport has also reported up to 116 cancellations as of Sunday afternoon.
Airport officials said they were working diligently with FPL to resolve the issue and ensure continued safe operations at the airport. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest updates.
