MIAMI — HorrorLand, one of the nation’s top-rated haunted attractions, is expanding its fright-filled footprint with a limited holiday event inspired by European folklore.
Since opening in 2020, HorrorLand has surged in popularity, earning national recognition for its immersive Halloween experiences. This year marks the attraction’s first foray into a seasonal offshoot, blending its signature scares with a twisted take on Christmas traditions.
The limited-run event, held at Jungle Island, introduces South Florida audiences to Krampus, a horned, demonic figure from Central European folklore known for punishing those who lose the Christmas spirit.
“He basically punishes you for not believing in Christmas or losing that Christmas spirit,” said Luna Santo, one of the event’s creators. “He came to Miami to teach us what could happen.”
Santo said it took her team about three weeks to transform the park into what she described as a “winter wonderland of nightmares,” complete with eerie Christmas trees, sinister elves and actors portraying the half-goat, half-demon creature.
“Let’s bring Krampus,” Santo said. “He’s new, something completely different, and we wanted to get people excited.”
Visitors can expect a high-energy experience that blends holiday imagery with HorrorLand’s trademark terror, including chase scenes, sudden scares and interactive elements.
“You’re going to be running, chased, sprayed, and they’ll even throw snowballs at you,” Santo said.
Guests leaving the attraction described the experience as frightening — but fun.
The Krampus-themed event runs Thursday through Sunday nights through Dec. 21.
