OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — No injuries were reported Thursday morning after a train crashed into a vehicle on the tracks in Opa-locka.
The accident was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the area of Ali Baba Avenue and Northwest 22nd Avenue.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed no one was injured.
Opa-locka police told Local 10’s Jackie Pascale that the driver was stuck in traffic and attempted to cross the tracks before the train arrived but was unable to clear the tracks in time.
They said the female driver and her passenger were able to escape the vehicle before it was struck. Neither the driver nor the passenger appeared to be injured, though both were shaken.
The crash caused traffic backups for several hours along State Route 9 and 22nd Avenue. All lanes have since reopened.
In a post on X, Tri-Rail said Train P608 was delayed Thursday morning following the crash, affecting a school train.
