One is 2 years old while the others are only 5 months old.

Police say they were called to an apartment along Southwest 122nd Avenue Sunday night after a neighbor, concerned about the dogs on a patio in a crate in the cold weather, reported the abuse to authorities.

Once officers went inside the residence, they said they noticed animal feces and urine in the home, and no food or water available for the dogs.

Police have since arrested 24-year-old Jaylen Tyrique Holmes, and he is facing multiple charges of animal abuse.

Holmes appeared before a Broward County judge on Monday.

The dogs are currently in foster homes in order to be sheltered from the chilly weather. They were all seen by a veterinarian and officials are waiting on lab work to determine the extent of their health issues.

Once they reach their normal weight and health concerns are addressed, the dogs will be ready for adoption.
