Broward woman accused of giving illegal injections

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — A 35-year-old woman faced a Broward County judge on Friday morning after sheriff’s deputies accused her of practicing medicine without a license.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies working out of Oakland Park arrested Megan Whitcomb on Thursday, according to jail records.

An arrest report detailing specific allegations wasn’t immediately available, though prosecutors said in court that the conduct occurred over a period of time, involving the same victim, and claimed Whitcomb was illegally providing medical injections and possibly distributing medications to patients.

Her defense attorney asked for a lower bond, citing a largely clean criminal record, save for a 2012 misdemeanor theft arrest, and the fact that she is a mother to two young children.

Ultimately, the judge set Whitcomb’s bond at just under $6,000.

She was ordered to stay away from the victim and not to practice medicine or give injections.

In addition to the practicing medicine without a license charge, she faces a charge of using a two-way communications device in the commission of a felony.
