MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Medics airlifted a child to a pediatric trauma center Friday afternoon after a driver hit him or her in Miami Gardens, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The crash happened at around 4 p.m. in the area of Northwest 194th Street and 37th Avenue.

Authorities have not released information about the child’s age, gender or condition.

Miami Gardens police blocked several lanes as they investigated. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the driver would be cited or charged.

Local 10 News has contacted first responders seeking additional information.
