MIAMI-DADE COUNTY — The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to a deputy-involved shooting that they say involved a stolen car in northwest Miami-Dade on Sunday night.
It happened near Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 95th Street, just outside Miami Central Senior High School.
Authorities said a deputy was conducting a traffic stop when he or she walked up to the car and an altercation ensued.
Shortly after, they said the deputy was forced to fire a gunshot, which hit the car before the driver sped off and fled the scene on foot.
The suspected car was found nearby, and a gun was found inside, but the driver was nowhere to be found, according to investigators.
No additional details were immediately released.
